Hospitality Industry Stays Over in Minneapolis

Observations from HITEC 2019

hitec It’s always nice to have guests. Last week saw the global hospitality industry arrive on our doorstep as Minneapolis hosted HITEC, the world’s largest hospitality technology tradeshow. Tens of thousands of attendees and guests arrived in town to showcase the latest products, and tech-led opportunities for hotel operators. Our team was there, rounding up the news. Here’s what we heard and saw. And they covered everything: updates to property management systems, cloud computing and big data analysis to optimize cost, new products that create greater employee efficiency, and most specifically that everyone is investing in technology. Trend watchers stressed that Internet of Things connectivity will only pick up pace in the coming year. That means more operational data for operators and a more tech-forward experience for guests. We also heard exciting news.  More than 40 percent of hotel operators intend to invest significantly in upgraded WiFi and streaming capabilities. Excellent news for guests obviously and essential to hotels that want to take full advantage of streaming on-demand fitness and wellness content that can help create exceptional brand experiences for visitors.
